Block Communication Plan: A Simple Template for RMC Directors

11 June 2026 · 6 min read

Most block communication problems are not about bad intentions — they are about no agreed process. One director posts on WhatsApp, another sends email, a third assumes everyone already knows. A one-page communication plan fixes this in an afternoon.

Your communication plan template

  • Official announcements: posted in the block platform only (not WhatsApp).
  • Informal chat: WhatsApp or similar — social, not for decisions.
  • Documents: stored in the shared library, linked from announcements.
  • Votes: opened with a clear question, closed on a published date.
  • Emergencies: immediate announcement + update within 2 hours.
  • New residents: invite link sent within 24 hours of completion.

Assign roles

Name one person (or two) as communication lead. They post announcements, open votes and upload documents. Other directors handle contractors and accounts. When everyone posts everywhere, residents stop knowing where to look.

Review it once a year

Put the plan on the AGM agenda. Does it still work? Are residents finding information? Are new owners getting onboarded properly? A ten-minute review prevents a year of confusion.

Put the plan into practice

CommonCouncil is the platform behind this template. Announcements, votes, documents and invite links in one place — free during early access. Create your block, share the plan, and start using it this week.
